Fitovo vs Athlytic, Gentler Streak and Fitbod
An honest comparison of four Apple Watch-friendly fitness apps: what each one is for, who it suits best, and when Fitovo isn't the right choice.
The short answer: they're built for different jobs. Athlytic is a deep recovery and training-load tracker for Apple Watch. Gentler Streak helps you stay consistently active at your own pace. Fitbod is a strength-training planner with a very large exercise library. Fitovo builds one weekly plan across strength, Zone 2 and Norwegian 4×4 intervals for adults aged 40 to 65, re-decides it every morning from your recovery, and plans around the workouts you already do.
We make Fitovo, so read this with that in mind. Everything we say about the other apps comes from their own UK App Store listings, checked on 25 September 2026.

Athlytic
Athlytic turns your Apple Watch data into daily Recovery, Exertion and Sleep scores, with training load, trends and a morning report. Its listing also describes daily coaching and workout suggestions, Siri answers to questions like "how should I work out today?", journal tags, and full cycle tracking with vitals compared against your own cycle phases. Its privacy label says Data Not Collected.
Choose it if you want the most detailed read on your recovery and training load, and you're happy to plan most of your training yourself.
Gentler Streak
Gentler Streak is built around moving consistently rather than constantly. Its listing describes daily readiness summaries, workout suggestions that respond to your readiness, full sleep analysis, a step-tracking view that doesn't push step goals, and cycle-aware suggestions. It won a 2024 Apple Design Award and was 2022 Apple Watch App of the Year, and your data stays on your device. Its privacy label says Data Not Linked to You.
Choose it if you want gentle, guilt-free help staying active, and you don't need a structured strength or interval programme.
Fitbod
Fitbod builds custom strength workouts around your level, goals and equipment, at the gym or at home. Its listing describes more than 1,000 exercises with video walkthroughs, recovery and exercise tracking, and integrations with Apple Health, Apple Watch, Strava and Fitbit. It has by far the most ratings of the four.
Choose it if lifting is your main training and you want lots of exercise variety and detailed programming.
Fitovo
Fitovo is built for adults aged 40 to 65. It plans your whole week across three kinds of training, strength, Zone 2 and the Norwegian 4×4, then re-decides each day from your overnight HRV, resting heart rate and sleep. When you're not recovered it proposes one change, which you accept or ignore, and it trims reps rather than weight. It reads the workouts you do elsewhere from Apple Health and plans around them, and it adjusts its readiness scoring for perimenopause, menopause, HRT, low testosterone and heart-rate medication. It works with Apple Watch, Oura and Whoop, and without a wearable via a morning check-in.
Choose it if you're over 40, want to be told what to do each day rather than just shown scores, and already have a sport, run or class you don't want to give up.
When Fitovo isn't the right choice
- You mainly want to lift and like variety. Fitbod's exercise library is far bigger than ours.
- You want cycle tracking. Athlytic and Gentler Streak both include it; Fitovo doesn't.
- You want the most private option. Athlytic's and Gentler Streak's privacy labels are cleaner than ours. Fitovo doesn't track you across other apps, but it does store some data linked to your account so it can sync your plan.
- You want proven popularity. The other three have thousands of ratings. Fitovo launched in September 2026.
- You're on Android. Fitovo is iPhone only for now.
Can you use them together?
Yes. All four work with Apple Health. Many people keep a tracker like Athlytic or Gentler Streak for the scores, and use a planner for what to do. Workouts you log in other apps reach Fitovo through Apple Health, and it builds the rest of your week around them.
